Rogue Squadron is a top secret taskforce officially designated as the Outland Defence Force, but almost universally known by its nnickname, tasked with battling threats to the New Republic from the Unknown Regions. Operating from Farpoint, a secret base deep in the Unknown Regions, Rogue Squadron is the New Republic's first line of defence.

The unit's military forces consist of a small fleet of starships, led by the Mon Calamari Cruiser Nautica and the Star Destroyer Hunter, three wings of starfighters and the ground forces of Farpoint Regiment.

In addition to these military forces, Rogue Squadron also has a military intelligence division and a research and development division.
