Starfighter Forces

The task force's 108 starfighters are split into three wings of three squadrons each, with each wing being commanded by an officer ranking at least Commander. Wings will often train and fly missions together, and be based on the same vessel. However, wings may be mixed as individual mission profiles require.

A squadron consists of twelve starfighters, all of the same type. Each pilot in the squadron is given a designation, from One to Twelve, for example Wraith Four is the fourth pilot in Wraith Squadron. A squadron is commanded by an officer ranking at least Major.

Each Squadron is made up of three flights of four consecutively designated pilots. One Flight is led by the Squadron Leader, while Two Flight and Three Flight are led by Five and Nine respectively. Flight leaders will rank at least as Flight Lieutenants.

Furthermore, each flight is made up of two elements. An element is basically a lead pilot and his wingman. Wingmen are responsible for each others' safety at all times.

Historical Structure

45:1	Commander Lana Tridon commands Alpha Wing (Wraith, Nova and Ace) from Ashleigh.
46:6	Colonel Glantry Fett commands Alpha Wing (Wraith and Ace) from Ashleigh, Commander Tridon commands Beta Wing (Nova, Shadow and Strike) from Hunter.
47:2:3	Talon Squadron is delivered, joining Alpha Wing. After the construction of Farpoint, starfighters are longer perminantly housed on capital ships.
47:3:2	Banshee Squadron arrives with Nemhain and operates independently as its defence.
47:4	Falcon and Pulsar Squadrons are procured. With Banshee Squadron, they form Gamma Wing under the command of Falcon Leader.
48:6:7	Commander Tridon leads Alpha Wing (Nova, Wraith and Ace). Commander Lance Tambek leads Beta Wing (Shadow, Talon and Strike).
50:1	Colonel Tridon leads Alpha Wing (Nova, Wraith and Ace Squadrons). Commander Tambek leads Beta Wing (Shadow, Falcon and Strike). Banshee Leader commands Gamma Wing (Banshee, Talon and Pulsar).
