Biography: The second child of an American Egyptologist and a half-Japanese, half-Russian translator, Mayina is an odd mixture of their cultures.
Having spent the first four years of her life travelling and immersed in her mother's heritage, young Mayina was suddenly thrown for a loop when her mother died in a violent storm. Sent to live with her father in America where he taught at a prestigious university, she continued to return to her mother's homes across the Pacific as often as she could.
By the time she was seven, Mayina could fluently understand and speak four languages: Russian, Japanese, English and Ancient Egyptian.
At the age of eleven, she was involved in an accident at one of her fathers dig sights that took the life of her older brother and left her permanently scarred.
After high school, her penchant for science led her to college and the US Air Force where her understanding of Egyptian served her well as she quickly learned to recognize Goa'uld.
Stationed at the SGC, she was offered a position at Farpoint because of her scientific and linguistic background.
Now, she follows her true scientific passion and works as a chemical researcher, a position that tends to have her brought into the most unlikely projects, but has kept the base from being blown up at least once.
