Biography: Skel Crosben had the marks to apply for almost any medical academy in the Core systems, but not the money. He tried for several scholarships, but was unwilling to agree to the stipulations that they carried--spending several years working on backwater worlds as the only medical personnel. Crosben's passion was studying the endocrine systems of the numerous aquatic races, and no one could guarantee that his "backwater world" would even have water.
Instead of the academy, Crosben enlisted in the New Republic Military and was excited to be sent to Farpoint aboard the newly commissioned Mon Calamari ship Nautica. However, on arriving at Farpoint he found to his dismay that he had been transferred to the Star Destroyer Hunter.
After several long discussions with her new ensign, Doctor Talgen agreed to recommend Crosben for admission to the Naval Medical based on the results of as series of reports she assigned. The first was set to be a study of "Allergy Symptoms Exhibited by the Aquatic-based Members of Rogue Squadron While Serving at Farpoint Station".
As a medical officer on board Hunter during the Battle of Kalaxh, Crosben was tasked with escorting the Dukhang children Giselle and Odette to safety, but was badly injured by a Dukhang boarding party en-route.
