Character Profile

Species: Male Kiffar
Homeworld: Kiffex

Biography: Born on the planet Kiffex, Kaleb had a fairly uneventful childhood. His parents did whatever jobs they could find, but most of the family's spare cash came from Kaleb's uncle, a high ranking military officer. The family was poor, but they were also relatively happy.

Kaleb didn't do very well in official schooling, and ended up dropping out all together when he got a bit older, much to the annoyance of his parents. He held all sorts of odd jobs over the years and got fired from most of them. Kaleb had always been fairly charismatic, but never seemed to know when to keep his mouth shut. He lost a lot of friends over the years because he just didn't know when to shut up.

With no formal education, Kaleb found it more difficult than he had hoped to find himself a job. Any place who actually wanted him wouldn't pay much, and even when those jobs did take him, he would always get fired after just a few months. As a Kiffar, any mercenary company or security division who was hiring would take him in a heartbeat, but a total lack of backbone on Kaleb's part kept him out of any such organizations. Or, as he put it, he would "never take a job where being shot was considered an occupational hazard."

But in his late twenties, his prospects were getting slimmer. He still hadn't settled down, had no job, no education... and he was a little drunk. So after a heart felt talk with his uncle--now a high ranking officer of the Republic--he decided that he'd failed at everything else, he might as well give military life a chance. Still drunk, he went to the local recruiting office.

Needless to say, he soon found himself in boot camp. His technical scores were awful. He was bad at formation drilling, couldn't shoot to save his life and was a severe liability during live fire exercises. That said, he showed a surprising ability for field medicine. Realizing that it was probably his only useful strength, they made him a medic, and he graduated boot with slightly above average marks.

Despite his average grades, he was assigned to a top secret unit that was supposed to be populated by the best of the best. Kaleb felt his uncle's hand in that, as he couldn't see any other explanation for why a unit of the best of the best would possibly want anything to do with the likes of him.

Just a week after receiving his post at Rogue Squadron, Kaleb was thrown into the fire head first while fighting on Keshmar. On Keshmar, he got his first confirmed kill, though he's not proud of it. He didn't like the feeling of having to pull the trigger on someone, even if that someone was an enemy soldier. While he mostly just did his job and tried to keep his head down, he must have impressed someone, because shortly thereafter, he received a promotion to Corporal.

Kaleb has no desire for personal glory, and his life goals at this point in time simply consist of surviving to see another dawn, and coming home to Kiffex alive and intact.
