Biography: A former US Army Special Forces soldier, Fortis was invited to join the SGC, and from there joined Rogue Squadron through their exchange program, where he rose from a platoon commander to a battalion commander.
Having been wounded severely several times, Miles has an almost intimate relationship with bacta tanks. He required a prosthetic arm following injury on Kurava, and on U1138 he suffered a head wound so damaging that a cybernetic brain implant had to be surgically installed.
This implant was in fact corrupted by malicious code, which made Miles a puppet of the traitorous Commodore Turin, until he was able to break free.
A hard drinker, both on and off duty, this addiction would eventually lead to his quiet discharge back to Earth and retirement from service during the regiment's restructuring, following an unspecified incident on Watchpoint Beta.
