Biography: General Hammond was assigned to decomission the Stargate Project before his retirement, but an attack on the facility by Apophis led to the founding of Stargate Command, with Hammon in charge.
While assigned to Erth, Rogue Squadron was instructed to take his advice very seriously, despite not being under his command.
When Anubis attacked Earth, he was removed as head of the SGC and placed in command of Earth's defences from Prometheus. Afterwards, he was promoted to Lieutenant General and made director of a new department overseeing the SGC, Earth's defence fleet, and the Alpha Site. However, he held this post only briefly before retiring.
