Biography: An experienced commando, O'Neill hides a cunning intellect behind the facade of a stupid soldier. He lead the original mission to Abydos, and was brought out of retirement again to lead SG-1.
When Dr Elizabeth Wier left the SGC to lead the Atlantis expedition, O'Neill was promoted to replace her. He only held the post briefly, later becoming Director of Homeworld Security.
