Sobek

System Lord

Profile

Status: Unknown

Species: Goa'uld/Male Human

Biography: Sobek was the God of crocodiles, power, protection and fertility, admired and feared for his ferocity. After an assassination attempt by Kali and Bastet, he retreated to the edge of Goa'uld space, believed dead by many of the System Lords and taking the industrial ecumenopolis Faiyum as his throneworld. Edging towards known space, Sobek encountered High Admiral Steele, fleeing the chaos after Endor and attempting to carve his own empire in the Unknown Regions. Initially they fought each other, but the two cunning warlords eventually saw how useful an alliance would be.

When Sobek's forces attacked a New Republic research station in Wild Space, this was the beginning of the war that would bring the New Republic to Goa'uld space. After a brief conflict, he was believed killed on board the Super Star Destroyer Steel.

In truth, Sobek had escaped and taken High Admiral Steele himself as host, ruling over both his own domain and the Eighh Imperial Fleet. In this guise, he continued to strike out towards the New Republic, until he was eventually captured alive with help from the System Lord Khepri, and held prisoner in Farpoint's bowels.

As the Dukhang ravaged the Unknown Regions under the leadership of his daughter Nefru, Sobek eventually offered to help defeat them under the threat of execution. Although inevitably intending to betray Rogue Squadron, Sobek found his daughter's thirst for the destruction of civilisation distasteful, killing her and escaping, but not before giving Nick Fel the key to stopping the Dukhang.

He later emerged as the leader of a resurgent Triumvirate, striking at both his former dominion and Rogue Squadron. Sobek was ultimately a victim of his own ambition: a superweapon capable of destroying entire star systems backfired as he attempted to target Farpoint, destroying much of his fleet and the entire star system. Whether his characteristic tenacity allowed him to escape the weapon's destruction is unknown.
