The Dukhang were a warrior race encountered in Imperial Union space, which were believed to pose a real and significant threat to galactic civilisation.
Born predators, Dukhang males possessed skeletal armour which could be used both defensively and offensively--in particular, blades of bone on their forearms were used to devastating effect. In battle they were completely without fear and ruthlessly efficient. Suicide tactics were not uncommon and one commando group was able to fight its way through an entire Star Destroyer to detonate its hypermatter reactor. While males lacked the intelligence or temperament for anything other than war, females were cunning and sadistic leaders.
Although inelegant, their technology was hardy and powerful. Their starfighters and shuttles were particularly well armoured. They did not possess any capital ships of their own, instead relying on captured ships crewed by the enslaved remnants of their former crews.
It wasn't until late in the war that the truth about the Dukhang came to light. Created by Sobek and his heir Nefru a thousand years ago as the perfect soldiers, the Dukhang bred out of control and matured too quickly. Their rampage was barely contained by Sobek, who removed the female population to prevent breeding and kept a controlled population as a last resort should his empire fall.
Upon Sobek's capture, Nefru reintroduced females and allowed the Dukhang to spread, intending to wipe all life from the galaxy. Fortunately, Sobek had also engineered a plague to stop his creation. Once released, the slow-acting virus triggered genetic instructions causing the Dukhang to seek out their own kind and spread the disease, before finally causing a horrific death. Within weeks, the Dukhang population had vanished.
